Oh hi there! I’m Della. Writer, wife and mother of three beautiful bambinos.

My whole life, I’ve loved meeting people from all walks of life and unearthing their stories. That’s why I decided to pursue a career in journalism.

Since completing my degree (more than a decade ago. Yikes!), I’ve been using my passion to meet people from different backgrounds, beliefs and professions in a bid to tell their tales.

Having worked as an arts and entertainment reporter, and with experience in tourism and travel marketing, I’ve had a pretty enjoyable run during my years in the industry. I’ve met some pretty rad people (Michael Caton would have to be up there on my list of faves. Ahhh the serenity!) and have gained a varied and versatile skillset.

For the last little while, I’ve been spending the bulk of my writing hours promoting the wonders of my hometown Ballarat and its surrounding regions – uncovering the multitude of stories that lie hidden in its depths and sharing them with the world!

Journalism and feature writing

My years in the industry have seen my work appear in print and online publications including The Age, The Melbourne Leader Magazines, One Hour Out, australia.com, and Forte. Closer to home, I have worked for The Ballarat Courier, Uncover Magazine, Secrets Magazine, The Ballarat Times, and The Local. My experience ranges from covering hard news to writing feature articles, and I love it all!

Blog posts

During my stint at Ballarat’s tourism board, I instigated and led the roll-out of Ballarat’s first official visitor blog. I’ve also been a regular contributor of several blogs including Melbourne Girl, Mamma Knows West and Baha’i Blog. I know what it takes to conjure up an enticing blog post that keeps your audience engaged from word one to word done.

Copywriting, proofing and editing

You might have a website that needs some dang good copy, or are in need of a completely fresh narrative for your business. Perhaps it’s your brand’s collateral content that needs to be proofed or completely reworked. Whatever the case may be, words are what I live for, and I truly believe that they have the power to make or break. Let it be the former, not the latter.

Public Relations

With my experience in the local media landscape, I’ll be able to write and pitch a media release (or few) and gain you some much-needed exposure in the local community. If you’re not too hot on media attention, that’s no problemo. There’s plenty of other methods we can use to relate to the public! So let’s chat some more.
